The 76th Motor Show in Geneva

Some 674.000 people visited the motor show in Geneva this year and this time we were part of them. Everything that has something to do with cars can be found here. We tested out some of the cars and had a look at the latest technology.

Before we could head off, we had to dig out our own car first. See also Snow in Basel. After half an hour of hard labour, we were ready to go...
This was an interesting model from Nissan. Good views around. We think the acoustics inside will be great too!
We tried out this Swiss version of the Smart.

This impressive Rolls-Royce had the typical shape of a coffin. As there was nobody at the stand to ask, we don't know if that was intentional.
Just to confirm, Porsche still sells the same old model! Same thing, over and over again. Probably for exhibition at all 76 previous annual Motor Shows...
What's so special in the boot of that car??
The engine... Mmmhhh, it's indeed very shiny.

For the technologically minded:
0-100km/h in 3.0s,
0-200km/h in 8.6s,
0-300km/h in 18.9s, provided there is not too much other traffic.

Tops at 380+ km/h (depending on the tyres it said?!).
Car four you? It looks better than it feels, as it's very difficult to get in and out of the car. You literally have to climb out! Not for me.
This is much more practical of course. Parking will no longer be a topic for hot debates in the car... It's one of these inventions where you wonder why you didn't think of it yourself.

If YELLOW is your colour, your quest is over.
We agree with the designer that if you think orange is nice, you should not limit yourself. For the curious, it's a Spyker.
This was from an Italian car maker. Interestingly, the only information they had on that car was the colours you could choose from.

It's an interesting mixture of wood, metal, plastics and leather.
This was the only occasion where we found lateral G-forces mentioned in the specifications...
The specifications belong to this car from Koenigsegg. They produce the fastest road car in the world: a staggering 395+km/h (anybody knows what that feels like???).
Now, is that PRACTICAL or WHAT?! A flashlight and shovel in the backdoor.
Where else would you see so many people on a quiet Monday morning?
Is Julia considering a career change?
It surprising how little has changed regarding the basics, isn't it? The main difference seems to be that most cars have a fixed roof and a windscreen nowadays.
We both liked this Toyota Yaris Different-Way-Of-Opening-The-Car model.
Keep an eye on the car next to you when you park...
And check out the height of your garage as well.

Apart from that, it's very convenient:
- to find something you dropped
- to get your child in fast
- to get your mother out fast
- to get that refrigerator in the back seat
This fuels our wish for 25°C conditions. Sigh...
...25°C conditions, deep sigh on the way back...

Well, the upside is that snow is great fun too, particularly when you're on skis. We scheduled that for the week after.
